Today, big boy, you are ELEVEN. You are loving basketball and developing some good friendships. You're a math maven and do well in all areas of school, including piano. You love to mow lawns and shovel snow (especially for other people) since the pay is much better.
As you grow and mature I'm often confronted with the wonders of your analytical brain. This organ is full of random and interesting thoughts, and you often broadcast these thoughts unfiltered. Sometimes I wish the filter was there. But mostly I'm glad that you can talk to us about anything. The lines of communication are open, and that's a wonderful thing.
Your detail-attentiveness makes you a good thinker, and you love to ask questions about things on a practical level. You have a heavy conscience and like to follow the rules. This cautious trait I think will mature into more discernment over time. You're already showing an ability for good judgment--like the time you told me it was unbelievably foolish to binge on sugary treats right before bed at the lock-in. You aren't one to get carried by the crowd.
We are so proud of the boy you are growing up to be, and pray that the good character qualities would continue to flourish. You are learning to think more about spiritual matters, and hopefully valuing things of eternal importance. Keep pursuing these. It's the part of life that really counts. Use that marvelous brain of yours to glorify God. Can't wait to see what He does with your life!
We love you, Bud.
