puzzles, polies, puddles & puppets

While I haven't been present in blogland much, the last several weeks have been saturated with life.  And since the next few weeks hold some travel plans (Girls of Grace camp for Cami and I, then an anniversary trip), I thought I'd put up a long catch-up slideshow...probably not to come back for a few weeks again.  So I'll fire away:
Jada, after emptying all the boxes, is piecing together something:
Sparks awards night for these two sparklers:

"Happy burgerday to Calvin"
Some muffins that were on fire...if I do say so myself. (And don't worry, we still sugared them up nice and good for a birthday treat later.)
A long-lasting lego session--these four were at it quietly for an hour.  Miraculous!
Calvin's lego mosaic.  A lego-saic.
Cami's capture of a little green caterpillar prompted my dragging out this little aquarium...er, bugquarium rather.  A good purpose for it, with the peace of mind that we are not killing any fish this time around.  She faithfully feeds them (apparently she has 4 of them now) daily, and hopes to keep them until they metamorphosize.
Her roly poly collection.  She collected 200 of them (yep, she counted), then released them...I wish I could say that no roly polies were harmed in this experiment, but there was some loss of life.

Under these stones are where the roly polies are harvested...the kids have spent hours and hours outside bug-hunting, worm-hunting, digging, creating worm beaches and all sorts of fun things around the backyard:
With only the small price to pay of a little extra mud in the laundry...it's well worth it.  Muddy Miss after puddle-jumping with Jude:
Hmmm...this mud hole wasn't there last week.
A pig-faced mask named Gossy:
And finally, this morning's potato head puppet show:
Hope everyone's summer is off to a great start!  Till next time...

Oh these are great Anna! I love all the great backyard and buggy fun your kids are having. And I love the lego-saic, mainly because you renamed it a lego-saic, but that is beside the point. ;o) See you at camp!! We can sneak out after everyone is sleeping and eat chocolate . . . yes?? ;o)

Love all these pics! Roly Polies are being captured and released on a regular basis at our house too, they are such a fun bug. Love all of the creativity and messiness. Enjoy your busy weeks friend!
