Calvin.
Big Boy, Hungry Boy, Big Man--these are some of the newer nicknames I've been trying out on you, since it's a little weird calling a giant human "Bud." It's fun to see the family traits in your mature self--your oversized hands and feet (size 12!) from my side (much like your Papa's), and your big blue eyes and robust brows from your dad. And when you smile, you are extra handsome. (I especially love how you look in braces!)
Aside from developing your impressive physique, your favorite hobby since October has been working. I'm overall glad for this--an excellent trait for a man looking to provide for a family some day. (Although we might have some maturing to do in the work/life balance area.) You've been working at the indoor trampoline park, cross-trained in several areas and have recently been promoted to front desk work. If you have extra time or a day off of school, you usually fill it with an extra shift, up to the legal limit. And you have detasseling plans again in July.
Your drive to work is greater than your drive to study, although you are getting pretty good grades in school. You're quite analytical and business-minded and will likely be an entrepreneur down the road. Your current motivation for saving is a pick-up to drive when you turn 16. (Admittedly, that sounds just a tiny bit cooler than the awesome 16-year-old mini van that's the currently getting you and Big Sis around.)
Our prayer for you, Calvin, is that your eye will be on the ultimate eternal prize more precious than any earthly riches. Keep seeking the wisdom of God in His Word, and be consumed with obedience. This means a fulfilling life now, and for all eternity--remember and dwell on what Christ has done for us.
Colossians 1:13 - 14
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
