Our boy Jude.
It's hard to believe it's been an entire decade since you burst into the world on that Good Friday--all 9 lbs 2 oz of you. You've always been the calm, low-maintenance child who is easy to please. When recently asked what you wanted for your birthday you replied, "I don't care--I don't really want or need anything." We threw a party with some friends recently, but you were practical and agreeable on the cheaper option. You are flexible and able to get along with the opinionators in our family. I love this about you. Sometimes I feel guilty that the other kids demand most of my mom-attention, but I think it's because you're carefree and understanding.
You get along with your siblings most of the time--you might clash a little with Big Sis. And you might pester Little Sis for entertainment's sake. But I almost never hear you argue with Calvin. He's your BFF, roommate, best basketball buddy (you've been playing some killer 1-on-1 lately!), and fellow parakeet owner.
Your physique is as strapping as ever, and I love the way you look in a fresh haircut. You let me steal a hug and a kiss now and then without too much repulsion. Your nicely-formed features and well-pigmented skin often remind me of your Gramma. Also your sweet nature. You're developing more young-man traits all the time and seem to excel in every area. You are a real thinker and growing in your understanding of spiritual things.
You still enjoy exploring God's world and studying all kinds of little critters and plants. You are excited to water the vegetable garden this summer and even plant your own flowers. You are outside at all hours of the day--mostly shooting hoops.
Our prayer is that you continue to develop, grow and excel in all you do--for God's glory. We love you so much, Buddy, and desire more than anything that you live your life wholeheartedly for the Lord.
Psalm 119:9
How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.
