delve into twelve

Dolly. What a joy you are at this stage! I used to think that the big kid years were so far off, that we'd have an abundance of time with you living under our roof...and now, it's clear that time is indeed slipping away. A few more short years, and you'll be out the door.

You are growing up to be a regular sweetheart. You blush furiously--even cringe--when you receive an open compliment. You love to give gifts, and to babysit and play with little ones, planning and making fun activities and crafts for them. You put on little Bible studies for the neighborhood kids and have already been a light for Christ to them.

This past year has been a big one for us, and for you in losing your sweet and beloved Gramma. You two understood each other, and always seemed to be "on the same page." You had a special bond with her, and often miss her very much. But still, you understand that she is with Jesus (right now!) and that you can trust Him with His perfect timing through all the ups and downs of life. His plan is so much better than what we think is best.

 We pray that you would continue to grow in your spiritual understanding of things, and continue to foster that sweet spirit and generous heart of yours, and that inner beauty that shines through.

We want you to understand that to be happy in life, you need to have the singular goal of pleasing the Lord, no matter what circumstances He is bringing you through. No matter what life holds for you, this way is the best! We love you, Baby Girl. Happy 12th birthday to our sweetheart.
