And our blog posting wouldn't be complete without a picture of a creeping critter. We found this giant caterpillar crawling through a parking lot. We kindly kidnapped him to take him home to "nurture." ...well that part never seems to work out like we hope. He's still alive, albeit lethargic--maybe spinach leaves weren't his thing. We should probably let him loose, but I was hoping to find out which kind he was (does anyone know?) I searched and searched but couldn't find anything like him online. A fierce-looking and rather flamboyant fanny with the orange spike:

Fun to catch up on your gang Anna--that first picture of smiley Jada--just love it! I'm wondering if maybe your caterpillar was a spurge hawk moth caterpillar? The pics look kind of similar when I googled it, but I can't tell for sure.
