winter campout

The last two days marked our little 6-pack's first camp outing.  With warm weather in the forecast, we decided to go for it.  We all had tons of fun, enjoyed some sunny weather, grilling, roasting marshmallows, hot chocolate and hiking.  Here are the happy campers:
And even though we pitched a tent, the campsite (or "camp website," according to Calvin) was full of amenities including a public bathroom and a playground:
Jada loving the snow:
Andy's clever burger flipper (in lieu of the forgotten spatula):
Another playground shot...not just for kids:
Heading out for a sunset hike:
Jude and his cozy hat:
You can't see them well, but here are 2 deer (of 8 total that we saw running through).  We also saw a cute little beaver, and a couple thousand Canadian geese.
Gotta take time to hug a tree:
Sunset on the pond:
Overall, it was a fun and memorable time.  The overnight was chillier than expected.  I was wishing I packed a few more winter hats to put on the kids...we might have slept a bit more if it wasn't 29.  But we'll definitely do it again...just not during winter. ;)

Glad you had a good time! Uncle Curt could have given you some equipment or tips if needed, but looks like you did fine. :-) Now that you guys are experienced campers, you can go on longer trips! Love the picture of the sunset on the pond. :-)

I'm glad it turned out so well--I'm certain you made some wonderful memories!! It seems whenever we grill away from home the burger flipper is the thing we forget as well. I'll have to remember Andy's trick. ;o)
