vacation elation

We're home, unpacking, and resting away.  What a fun time we all had!  The 18 hour driving spree went exceptionally well (thank you to those praying!!), and we were all able to enjoy time with family, fun excursions, and of course--the ocean!
 Here's the proof we made it to the South Carolinian coast:
Four monkeys with their Carolina cousins:
We came in at about 2,950 miles for the entire round trip (out to northern SC, 3 hours down to the coast and back, and the return trip).  Each day of driving we only stopped 2 times, the 3rd being the destination...maybe one extra stop that last day.  But all in all, very easy, considering.

Here's what the kids said was their favorite part of the trip:
Cami--playing cats with Raymond
Calvin--the quiet contest at the hotel  (?!)
Jude--the ocean
Jada--meowing squeak (we think she loved Caroline's cats the best)

Funny quote {while celebrating crossing another state line}
Us:  "We're in Kentucky!"
Jude:   "I want a cookie!"

Something we learned:  Those interesting 'vegetable' plants growing in Hopkinsville, KY were not vegetables at all but tobacco.  Twas an enlightening agricultural experience.

I'll try to post more highlights later...hope you're all having a restful weekend too. :)

Sounds like a great time. I'm always amused at what kids say they like or remember from big activities like vacations, etc. Thanks again, Anna, for your help when we called you. We got it figured out. :-)

So glad to hear you guys had a great time! And did you end up finding a new swimsuit--you look super cute (love the colors!!). ;o)
I always love seeing the mileage racked up after a cross-country trip--sounds like you have completely broken in your van now!
Praying for your back-to-school this week!
