Below is a false representation of how we have been spending our summer thus far:
...although we did finally make it to the library last week and have been attempting to put forth some effort with the reading program. What has happened to our first few weeks of summer? I'm really not sure...perhaps overbooking (no pun intended), and subsequently recovering from busy weeks/weekends, a garage sale, spending time with some much-missed family, and a mini vacay for the kids out to VBS at Gramma & Papa's church. I can tell you that I have not accomplished much cleaning.
Sweet Pea has slowly become more comfortable taking steps. Although crawling is still her preferred method of speedy transportation.
She's also feeding herself with a spoon once in awhile, when I let her. She's at the age that she demands politely requests that we let her feed herself...finishing off the meal with a hair conditioning and facial when she wipes her sticky gooey hands on every hard-to-wipe crevice of her head:
Her favorite teether? A baby carrot. I know, I know...not the safest. But so far her short little teeth can only break off tiny nibbles. I'm just glad one of my kids finally has something they like to teethe on. Here's the cheerful chomper--my baby with her baby carrots:
Speaking of carrots, here's something you might not see every day...
He dished them all up and ate every last one of them. When I asked for a couple he wouldn't share. What's even more disturbing is during a brief absence he asked me to watch his food to make sure Cami and Jude wouldn't take any of his carrots (never mind the pizza on his plate). Which leads to the conclusion that he prizes them over the leftovers I was making use of.
Here he is putting his head inside an egg:
And my other boy accessorizing smartly in potato-head fashion. He fits the part with his brown skin tone:
What do you get when you ask two boys to pose for a picture?
My little lady is still drawing every day...this piece is called The Giant Pencil and includes a well-accessorized princess kitty with an oversized writing utensil.
That's the scoop this week. . .hope you all are enjoying your summer too!

Jada is so cute (and so messy!) :-) I distinctly remember my Julie wearing Mr. Potato Head glasses, too. Glad to see Calvin's love of carrots and I always enjoy Cami's drawings...which of course reminds me of Renae. Fun to see their imaginations! :-) Was great to see you all the other day, too!
Such fun pictures Anna! I think I find Calvin's carrot hoarding the most amusing--can't say I've seen any of my kids guard their veggies in a similar fashion. And Cami's artwork just keeps getting better! So neat!
What is it about those Mr Potato Head glasses that just *beg* to be worn by toddlers everywhere?!! All my boys did wore our little blue ones....which now are quite misshapen and don't fit Mr. P quite so well! :) Jada's sprouty ponytail is *so* darling!!!
