Jude has reached a really fun age for me. He's more verbally expressive--an enjoyable feature, especially for my quiet one. After he told me he ate some toothpaste, I disturbingly said, "Toothpaste! --how much?"
He thoughtfully replied, "Um . . . 3."
His problem-solving skills are present, manifested by his eating through candy packaging with his teeth, popping out an M&M, and later a candy heart with this ingenious method. And just a week or two ago he was 3 for 3, putting on all of his clothing backwards...I thought it was cute and let him go about his day with the confident swagger of having done it himself. Now he's much more independent getting dressed and corrects all the backwardness that comes with that cute stage. Here he is in another interesting wardrobe...as I recall, bare feet weren't working so well in the snow so he grabbed Calvin's dress shoes and mittens for some snowballing:
His big brother continues to be a colorful influence and educational source for him. If Calvin acts goofy, Jude will be even more goofy. If Calvin is growling loudly Jude will amp it up even more. It's what I call the 'exponential effect' of boys...together they accomplish more than you think is possible. Like the time Calvin retrieved the permanent marker to doodle on paper, and Jude used it to embellish our fridge with a lovely mural. (Thankfully nail polish remover cleaned it right off...but what do I do about those colorful dots on my purse? And a few other 'pops of color' I'm noticing around the kitchen...) The two of them often make me shake my head in disbelief:

The "exponential effect" of boys--very well said. ;o) Baffling the minds of mothers every day . . . People keep telling me to wait, those girls are going to get harder and the boys will be so easy once they are older. I've yet to see the truth in that, but it is cause for hope. Love all the fun stuff your little men are up to--and I must say, I've had a few rodent-like boys who nibble packaging also! (the tea bag ended up not nearly as tasty as envisioned . . .)
A dear friend once told me:
1 boy=1 brain
2 boys=1/2 brain
3 boys = No brain
So, be thankful, my friend, at least your house is functioning at 1/2 brain capacity.
As for my house...... :)
They will be brilliant b/c you've let them explore their creativity!! I LOVE this!!
