autumnal activities...and an attitude of gratitude

Today is a *BEAUTIFUL* warm Fall day--probably the last for a while (snow coming soon!)...the boys took advantage by baring their bods to soak in the sun for one last picnic.
We've also been trying to do a few Fall-inspired activities like these pine cone cheese & cracker snacks...we also did this fun craft creating critters out of leaves: Calvin & Cami's butterfly collection:
Jude made (I think) some people with crazy hair, and Jada's turtle & flower:
I was regretting the use of permanent markers (what kind of rookie mom does that?)...turns out the time savings of not running to the basement to get the kid-friendly markers was made up with the magic-erasing I did on our wood floor and kitchen table. But we all had fun.
The other Thanksgiving activity that I put together for the kids were these verse cards:
The other night I went to print off a few verses on thanksgiving...and 5 pages later I had PLENTY to choose from (using biblegateway). I made 3 weeks' worth to put up on our little fireplace ribbon garland (since we are leaving for a family reunion/vacation at that point--YAY!)...so every day one of the kids picks one to hang up and I try to explain or talk about it a bit...
...hopefully to promote a thankful attitude and deeper understanding of the One who is the Giver of all things. ...and I'm probably the one who needs the most reminding! Hope your week (and your heart) is filled with gratitude. ;)

Great stuff Anna! I had to "pin" those pinecone crackers--adorable (although the almond layering looked a bit tedious-way to go!) and I LOVE your gratitude banner! Not only is it soooo pretty what a fabulous way to be getting more scripture into little hearts. I may have to copy! ;o)
