hidden talents, a reading tree, and doting on peanut

Have I mentioned how crazy my boy is about biking? Well he is. So much so that he decided to take his bike inside the house and up the stairs. After I carried it down the stairs (in order to stifle his stunt potential), I let him ride around a little (which I later regretted after a near-incident with Jada on the floor).
Needless to say, we've been spending more time biking outdoors, and I'm delighted to report that my little biker boy can now roll sans training wheels (hooray!) and can even start himself at times. Not to detract from big Sis...she also recently acquired the independent stopping/starting abilities. Such newfound freedom--this is SO much fun: Another performance from my multi-talented child: Aside from our newfound talents, I have recently found it absolutely necessary to institute a new rule in our household. After school (following snacks/homework), all mobile children must exit the house and spend at minimum one hour--if not longer--outdoors. This has benefited all parties involved, and I was gratified with the kids' discovery of this fun little perch:
Not to forget our littlest peanut (who is really our live dress-up doll, can you tell?) I'm elated when I see Cami smother her in all imaginable girly affection. She'll even lift her (carefully and only while sitting on the floor), singing, rocking, peek-a-booing and baby-talking in her high-pitched prattle appropriate for babies. And she'll be the one to notice Jada's sad/tired cries and respond affectionately, "Oh, poor Jada."
She is a poor child, when her robust brother comes to wrestle, play or otherwise experiment on her featherweight bod:
The poor thing has in the last few days survived his shoe-clad foot to her forehead, his 40 lb. physique stepping onto her back, and other unseen acts of curiosity...he does love her, and will often snuggle and play with her--even offered his favorite sucking thumb to her once (a true gentleman, I know)...they all love her. It's pretty sweet to see their adoring affection for their little sister who holds the important office of "the baby."
What else can I say about our full week? I'm feeling happily and busily blessed. Hope you are too. ;)

Such fun pics Anna! Way to go Calvin on the bike riding--he must have an extra developed sense of balance (which should come in handy if he decides to pursue the stunt-man career full-time!). ;o) I love your reading tree and I think I might come steal Jada, she is too sweet!
