a report from the midwife's office

Had a baby appt today and was reassured that everything was good/healthy/normal...also a "non-stress test" (where they monitor the fetal heart rate's response to movements), and that looked perfect--praise the Lord! I feel a little silly for worrying about things and getting a little antsy...my midwife talked some good sense into me...to quote, "God is much better at this than we are" ..and also told me that most women statistically should go past due (although hardly anyone does with induction available nowadays)...I really want badly to avoid induction, since that's pretty much a guarantee of a longer and more complicated labor if your body isn't ready...I'm not a great candidate for the whole epidural business either and would like to avoid that again too. My midwife wouldn't induce until I was 2 full weeks overdue. All in all, a good day, and lots of things to be thankful for...still praying for good timing since Andy has an out-of-town business meeting for a chunk of next week (which he could cancel but it would necessitate a further-away-flying trip at a later point)...but after being checked today, things are "very underripe" so maybe another several days? Although *in theory* labor could start at any time...I'll try to post something if (and when) labor starts...
