To my handsome and strapping thirdborn boy:  today you are five.

 You are *SO* ready to be a five-year-old.  You've been talking about this big event for months now--it's a new chapter with kindergarten looming, and you as an official "BIG" kid. 

 You are over-the-top BOYish.  Your imagination is wild, and you can turn the charm on at a moment's notice:

With two older siblings, you are not lacking in the goofiness department:

 And I love that you are completely in your element outdoors. 

 Your favorite color is blue, and your favorite food--eggs (you request them almost every day for breakfast).  You love to play basketball and ride your bike.  And you have an insatiable desire to hunt for bugs--studying them, learning from them.  It's been a LONG winter for you not being able to enjoy your best hobby.

You are a natural explorer and have told me several times that you are going to be a zookeeper.  (Although there was talk of being a farmer too.)

 We want you to keep exploring and studying these little creatures that make you tick.  And may this education of Creation point you to the Creator God of the universe, who provided a way for our salvation.  Our prayer is that your eyes would be opened to your sin and to your need for saving faith in Christ.  This is the one important thing in life.  May you grow up with a desire to seek and obey Him.
