a melon head, cousins, and butterfly coo at the zoo

Yet more random shots from our yet again busy week.  (Summere's here and I haven't made it to blogland much.)  Cami's roly poly house.  I think she caught 33 of those and then got on a slug-capturing spree, domesticating about 26 of those.  ..give or take.
She had me google what they eat, as is her habit, then promptly fed the slugs vegetables. Although they might be shriveled up and lifeless at the present.  At least it was a good learning-activity for her ever-expanding noggin melon:
Cousin fun!  We've loved having them back and have gotten to enjoy lots of get-togethers.
Breakfast.  When one wants to sit by Jada, they all want to sit by Jada.  She's still popular...they're still celebrating the specialness of babyhood.
 Zoo day--hooray!
It was our first zoo playdate in a LONG time.
 Cami caught one...or a few.
Jude caught one and was holding it a really long time...he might have crippled it first.  Sadly, this poor creature's health rapidly deteriorated over the holding session.
Calvin only got to hold the crippled one...probably contributing to it's poor health.  He kept chasing them down, and they would not for anything climb on his finger, even with that special butterfly juice they spray on you.  It's like they knew...we'll have to have some lessons in gentleness.

Love seeing all your summer fun!! And I'm totally identifying with the bug interest and the intelligence of those butterflies. We've had a few chase down sessions too, and nothing could get those butterflies to land. Poor Calvin. ;o)
