spring break play, and goldilocks' sandbox

Here's a smattering of playful shots of our Spring Break fun...the weather was wonderful (the kids LIVED outside)...here's our snack break during a hike: Our field trip to see Venus, Jupiter & Mars through the telescopes at the nearby observatory (pardon the blur, it was getting dark): One of many flimsy towers built without my permission or knowledge: St. Patty's Day: GREEN smoothie (YUM!)...made with milk, vanilla yogurt, raw spinach, maybe a little whey protein and frozen banana chunks for a nice frothy shake-like consistency. It's slightly sweet, very filling and oh-so-fun to drink your salad: The backyard was calling us outside all week, and we de-weeded the sandbox under the swingset and plopped lil sweetcakes in there to play...she LOVED it! The digging, the flinging...the robust, earthy flavor of the many samples she taste-tested. Getting dirty makes a person happy, doesn't it? ...or maybe that's my inner farm girl talking.
But there's something so delightful about watching my kids learn & grow through outdoor fun, enjoying God's Creation.
...a tangibleness evident of "His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature," (Romans 1:20)..."clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that [mankind is] without excuse" ...I think that's why I enjoy it so much. Nature makes it obvious that there is a Creator God. And He created this diverse planet to nurture human life. What's not to enjoy?
Don't you want to go stick your tootsies in some cool moist sand?

What perfect weather to have during a week off! We've had a bit cooler weather these last few days (although it is perfectly normal spring weather!) but I got a bit spoiled by all the glorious warmth. I love that verse from Romans--totally my go-to reasoning behind anything "nature-y" that we do. ;o) And yes on the inner-farmgirl need to get dirty--I've been out scratching around in the dirt around my house. ;o)

*LOVE* putting spinach in smoothies! Great way to get those greens in!

Your kids and their continual fort building made me think of this blog and their "Fort Friday" feature:

The forts range from ordinary to extraordinary--fun to look at
