a walk in the park...and the patch

Today was school-free for both Calvin & Cami, so we piled in the car for a quick outing at the local pumpkin patch and a nature walk playdate at a park. The kids picked out their mini pumpkins:
And explored the sites.
This picture clearly demonstrates the difference between boys and girls:
At the park there was plenty to explore on this refreshingly chilly (and a little bit wet) Fall day.
They had an outdoor wooden play area with a giant hollow log, dirt digging box stocked with shovels, and sticks available for building.
There was wildlife--dead...
...and alive:
Bridges to cross, trails to stomp, stumps to jump on:
And plenty of pretty views, cool air, crisp smells, and lively bird sounds to take in.
Everyone had fun..except maybe Jada, who wasn't loving her carseat. (But all was okay when we made it home for a nice long cloudy-daynap.)
Hope you had a great day too. :)

Love the boy/girl comparison picture--isn't that the truth!! COOL heron, rarely do I catch a glimpse of one and when I do I never have a camera, so score! And what a cute little expression Jada has on her face! Even though I still see bits and pieces of siblings in her she is also starting to look just like "Jada" too! ;o)
