attitude adjustments for the busy bees

"Do it!" "No!" ...This has been the theme of the mother-daughter happenings in our house lately. I was hoping the American_Red.Cross had a remedy for such attitude problems, but I think we are turning a corner...Cami has been busy reading, making story books and a weather almanac, and building this little house: ..which she recognized as extremely important. "I can't really play right now, because I'm too busy building this house." She also completed an hour-long stapling project and very thoroughly took our family attendance the other day...along with record of each person's favorite animal, number, and weather. We realized that she's embraced big girlhood when a few weeks ago she asked us, "When I get done with kindergarten, will I have to take a airplane to college?" My middle child--despite this questionable look--has shown an incredibly sweet, compliant, and responsible side lately. Yesterday he was so concerned about remembering the treats that we were bringing for his church friends, and he loves to make me smile by saying, "I wuv you!" or "I wanna give you a hug." He often helps Jude get his shoes off or feed him spoonfuls of peanut butter during one of their mid-morning feasts. And he entertains us by trumpeting his accomplishments during the day. "Da da-da da-dah! I got myself dressed!" (He also trumpets his lack clothing before bathtime.) He's turning into a big sweetheart and is an easy kid to have around. Jude, however, has cornered the market on dumping and mess-making. Lego baskets, baskets of little cars, baskets of books..it's not good to remove the item you need, it must be spread over the floor, and preferably mixed with other items so as to cause picking up and sorting by a responsible older person in the house. His little 'milk mustache' is actually kefir here..have you tasted kefir? It's disgustingly bitter (but has great health benefits) ..and he snorts it down when given the chance. Other hobbies of his--besides dumping--include locating and laughing at all bellies including his own (and sometimes giving raspberries), roaring when he notices any animal, and wrestling. He really loves to wrestle...which delights this mother-of-boys. . .except when I'm the target.

So all in all, after a rough couple of weeks, things are smoothing out attitude-wise. I am happy to report that I am not refereeing quite as much.

Cami's artwork never fails to make me smile--what ideas she has! I tried some peach flavored Kefir that I found at Super Saver--not my favorite beverage, but it wasn't too bad. Praying for continued good attitudes and happy kids--for the both of us. ;o)

That ref blowing the whistle is so great....look at his eyebrows even! What an artist! I'm thankful you've had some encouragement lately with attitudes. I know how draining it can be to constantly be disciplining and "reffing" little squabbles.

I'm DYING at the arwork...DYING!! That is really, really incredible. I mean, you can see the attitude FLYING off the page. That's some serious talent. Seriously. Love it!

The drawings are precious. My favorite are the eyebrows on the ducks. Eyebrows are very important :)
