snaps, doodles, and farewell

In the midst of scurrying around, I had to post a few more messy-faced pics here before we head out of town tomorrow. Jude is sportin a smoothy-stache: And the kids a few weeks back after a self-face-painting day at the museum: And some doodles that I've been enjoying lately:
Above is our own family portrait (if we were giraffes) and below the doggy is asking to play at the park with the other very long-tailed dog. "Can, we Mommy?" ...Cams writes backwards at times, but someone said Da Vinci did it too, so I'm not worried. Yet.
And the other day Cami was craving a cold winter day...
OK, this last one takes some explaining...we recently hit a garage sale and came home with tons of books...one of them was an illustrated kids book on bones and what your insides look like...here is Cami's version of the amazing divinely-designed human anatomy:
If you look closely you can make out "those bones in your belly that look like fingers" (rib cage), and "the thing that you think with" (brain).
We are hitting the road early in the morning and heading to Louisville, KY. Visiting family, a super cool zoo, science museum, Slugger Factory, and a day at the lake are a few things we'll be enjoying. Thanks to some tips from friends and online searches, I have lots of activities prepped for the 12 hour car ride--aluminum foil molding, pipe cleaner sculpting, games/scavenger hunts, coloring pages, surprises to be handed out for good or average behavior, and classical music to soothe any crabby passengers. Hope you all have a good weekend!

Hope you have a great time in KY - say hi to the Johnsons for us!:-)

Once again I love seeing Cami's drawings....the giraffe family is a kill. :-)

From an old elem. teacher (me): you're right, don't worry about the writing backwards at her age. That is SO common. I used to have second graders that still did it occasionally. Kids almost always grow out of that on their own, plus her teacher(s) will help correct that as time goes by.

Well, sounds like you're prepared for the long drive! Have a safe and FUN trip. :-)
