counting our blessings

Well we are thankful for several things today. After being hit with a short wave of a flu bug this weekend (I'm sure we have Calvin and his disease-spreading habits to thank for that..next time I WILL stop him from chewing on the soles of his shoes) we are getting up and running again. Thankfully the men of the house didn't get it, and Cami got a short milder version of what I got--weakness, tummy ache, some body aches with a few chills. We are thankful that it was over fairly quick, and Cami even made it to preschool this morning since she had no fever and was feeling all better. In fact the only collateral damage was our disassembled house... No one really knows what a stay-at-home mom does all day, but this is what happens when she doesn't do it. Andy would be embarassed that I'm telling you this, but he was the biggest lifesaver--taking care of the kids, feeding them and getting them to bed..whew! (Thanks, Hon.) Anyway, a little bug makes me put things in perspective a bit..God is sovereign over everything, and He is the One who allows these things to happen. And He answers our prayers. Cami was really struggling with her tummy ache, and we prayed about it, and the Lord answered it QUICKLY making an afternoon tummy ache much better by bedtime. Praise the Lord! There are plenty of good things that happen in the midst of the not-so-fun...I guess technically for us believers, all things are good for us in the long run, according to Romans 8:28 "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. "

".....this is what happens when she doesn't do it." ha! Love that! Sadly, my house can look like this by the ned of the afternoon even when I'm not sick--although the baby toys are replaced with action figures, Hot Wheels cars and Legos. All of which really hurt when you step on them!!!!

Glad you are feeling better! We do take our health for granted, I can feel annoyed by the big pile of dishes to do, when I should feel GRATEFUL that I'm able to do them. Some people need help daily for simple tasks, and it is SOOOOO easy to forget that. I love the little lessons God hides for us in everything! (And thank you for the reminder to choose gratefulness in all things!)

I think I will remember your "no one knows..." sentence for a long time - that was great....and SO true. I just received my Social Security update-thing in the mail, and it shows all those years when I "wasn't working" - at least in the eyes of the government. HA

I figure it's a good thing for stay at home moms to get sick once in a while, so that the family gets a reality check and renews their appreciation for her! Glad you're doing better.

Sometimes I think the Lord allows these times in order to make us realize our blessings in good health! And sweet girl..even when there aren't kids in the house, we have days our homes look like a tornado hit it! This is so our hubbies can tell when we DO clean it up!
Glad you're all feeling better! Hope the men folk don't get it...they seem to suffer SO MUCH MORE than we do! ha!
