feeling outnumbered...

As we settle into our non-routine of having three, my eyes have been opened to the harsh reality of my inability of keeping up with it all. The other day we had back-to-back potty and milk messes to clean up, and as I was walking to the laundry room with the dirty rags I saw my ever-so-intelligent two-year-old elbow-deep in the toilet havin a party and splashin away. This morning started out more normal and was going relatively smoothly as I was able to spend 45 uninterrupted minutes on the treadmill while the two big kids played nicely together in the basement. Having gotten a shower halfway through the morning I was feeling like tackling the mysterious poop spot that was on Calvin's comforter (how did it get there? He wears diapers.)

Posed ready to scrub I noticed a strong odorous urine scent that I remembered I smelled the other day but couldn't locate its source. I removed the comforter revealing a HUGE potty stain on his sheets..I almost missed the brown bundled surprises that rolled out on the carpet. Oh joy. Well at least I noticed it relatively soon...2 and a half days isn't bad, right? Don't be totally grossed out though, this was at the foot of his bed. What's more upsetting is that my semi-responsible almost-4-year-old left this little gift without saying a word. Most of the time she's very helpful as she's demonstrating here...

Aside from the excitement of the morning (did I mention Calvin's stunt work and bloody lip?) we are getting into a rhythm around here. The basics of laundry and feeding little mouths are pretty easy to accomplish. It's the other things, like the perm-adhesive layer developing on the kids' chairs at the dinner table, and our windows that were see-through now look like the finished glass...

And Jude has been busy with his eating and pooping marathon. As you can see he's successfully grown a spare chin and a few extra rolls to go around. He's well past 10 lbs according to our home scale.

One last picture I had to share of a fun package we received from SC..I think these cards are so gorgeous..Aunt Kristin even included bday gifts for the big kids next month. (Thanks guys!) ..anyway, that's all the news for now. I have a poopy diaper I can smell a mile away, and the kids just informed me of yet another spill downstairs...

Hugs Anna! I don't know what to tell you except I can relate to everything you have said in one way or another. ;o) So, if misery DOES love company, you have some. I don't think you've done any permanent damage yet. ;o)

mmm, those realities aren't far in my memory, either, Anna! (and we're still getting our share with all of them over age 3) :)

it's a full time job, and you're pressing on gloriously dear sister!!

(ps..glad the little package arrived!)

Agreeing with Kris...absolutely GLORIOUSLY!!! Jude is getting so big already! I might have to send his little gift ahead of time...before he outgrows it! Ha!

Looking forward to holdin' that lil bundle when we blow thru, if we get to stop by. Timing is everything! ; )

Reading this brings back the flood of memories when I was in this stage. I remember feeling very outnumbered too and wishing for about 8 extra arms and legs and hands, etc! Switching from that man-to-man defense over to a zone defense takes some time. You'll get it! Hang in there. It was great to see you at church on Sunday (even though I missed getting to talk to you). I bet it was nice to get out and let the nursery workers deal with all the poopy messes for a few hours. :)
