Monday Funday

We have been looking forward to Cami's preschool open house for weeks. She was so excited to visit the school that she'll be attending in August. With nothing on our morning schedule, we should have been rested and enjoyed an uneventful content time at home. However this morning got off to a rough start when the kids woke up in a less than perfect mood (way too early after another late night). Other than the basics of getting mouths fed and bodies dressed, the only real thing we accomplished before we left this afternoon was to make messes and administer cry control for crabby people. During our afternoon outing our carpet cleaner came to cause another miraculous wonder, brightening things up and even removing a million old latex paint spots from a previous 'paint bomb' that went off in that room (don't ask) several months earlier. Anyway, it was shampooed and buffed to a beautiful glossy shine. We will not be stepping on it for at least a month. I did get my own practice at carpet cleaning today in our bedroom...while we were in a hurry trying to get ready and eat before we rushed out the door, Calvin climbed onto our bed and fell back spearing his head on a sharp corner of a metal table. After the blood stopped pooling and raining everywhere, I was elated to discover only a small wound on his head at the back of his skull--no stitching run for us--hooray! oh, and p.s. rubbing alcohol is a great stain remover for blood in the carpet (thanks to my sweet friend Janna for that one!) We got Calvin dropped off at a friend's house to nap while Cami and I went to a quick dentist appointment and her preschool open house. Here she is checking out the cool room. We had a nice time and met her teachers too. Eventually got back home with both kids, and the perplexing mood change happened yet again..why is it that tired kids can be perfectly content at other places but come to hate all that's beautiful in life when we get home together again? Snack time helped a lot of things, and as you can tell from the picture Cami has wisdom well beyond her years...I think she's onto something with the helmet. We just need to get Calvin one...maybe a full padded body suit would be better. We continue to put the "fun" in disfuction. Everyone tells me to enjoy it since these days go by so quickly...I am keeping that in mind. I better get moving since countdown to bedtime is in 1 hour at 7 p.m. That is an appointment I intend to keep! But first I have to throw a "Happy Groundhog Day" out to the love of my life since my sweet romantic husband proposed to me on this grand holiday 10 years ago. I'd say yes again! A million times. Love you, Babe.

YOur post made me smile--ah the days where you can scarcely catch a breath. Which preschool did you end up going with? Oh, and actually I've only tried hydrogen peroxide, but I'm glad to know that rubbing alcohol works too. Now to find something for mustard . . . ;o)
